I saw MIKE perform in Fall 2021 in Kingston, NY at the end of his tour, and brought a camcorder. Having seen him perform the same song in 2017 at the former East River Park amphitheater, this video is meant as a tribute to MIKE’s dedication and synergy.
In Spring 2018, I began Underground Sessions by inviting my peers and favorite musicians to perform and in the basement headquarters of 8-Ball Community, a non-profit I had been volunteering at.
Every week, I filmed, edited, and produced a new 30-minute length video for the non-profit’s online public access television network. This was a later performance, and has been re-edited by the artist.
Two years after Underground Sessions started, I was interested in taking more liberties to blur and distort clarity in the performances, still treating them as live in-house show with invited audiences. The filmed and edited performance is a meeting point of their playing and my processing.
In 2019, I covered Girlpool’s New York City performance on a boat for Baffler Magazine. The boat left from the East River and made its way near the Statue of Liberty.
In 2018, friends and I started filming local and visiting artists performing inside our college radio station. The performers might be students and friends we wanted to have their music and live performance be preserved online, or a band that was coming to play at the student venue.
From 2020 to 2021, I acted as Video Production Coordinator for the Wild Honey Pie’s Buzzsessions editing performances from artists across the world at the peak of the pandemic.
